The Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund’s mission is to leverage municipal engagement to improve the financial stability of low and moderate income households by embedding financial empowerment strategies into local government infrastructure. The Fund works with mayoral administrations and those interested in supporting them to actually implement innovative programs and policies -- and measures its success accordingly.

BANK ON 2.0 INNOVATION FUND RURAL PILOT AND NEW RFP
The CFE Fund has awarded rural engagement banking access pilot funding, with support from JPMorgan Chase Foundation. We also released our second-round omnibus Innovation Fund RFP, to support increased financial services access for populations with unique challenges and through rental payments and City vendor payments.
NATIONAL FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT CENTER INITIATIVE
The CFE Fund announced a new Request for Proposals to assist a third cohort of cities with in-kind technical assistance to launch Financial Empowerment Centers.This effort is part of our $16.2 million initiative, in partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies, to replicate the model, currently in nine cities across the country.
NEXT GENERATION MUNICIPAL FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT AWARDS
The CFE Fund’s Next Generation Municipal Financial Empowerment Awards, supported by Capital One, will provide funding and technical assistance to five new mayors to launch local financial empowerment initiatives in their cities. Read the press release here.
CFE Fund Hosts Joint Coalition and Presidential Council Meeting
The CFE Coalition held a joint meeting with the Cities and Communities Working Group of President Obama’s Advisory Council on Financial Capability of Young Americans in Los Angeles. Officials discussed best practices including the CFE Fund's Summer Jobs Connect and other municipal college finance programs.
