Natural disasters, public health crises, and other localized emergencies can have serious financial ramifications for individuals and families, due to unexpected expenses, loss of income, and limited access to relief supports and programs. The Emergency Financial Empowerment (EFE) initiative partners local emergency management leadership with government and other community financial empowerment resources, better to ensure that emergency response protocols incorporate critical personal finance preparedness and response.

The CFE Fund is currently accepting applications for the next Emergency Financial Empowerment cohort. Building off lessons learned from the first cohort, this chapter of work uses the expertise and tools to support government-led local emergency preparedness efforts with a focus on individual household financial resilience, preparedness, and recovery. Selected participants will receive $150,000 over the 24-month engagement, as well as significant technical assistance to create and implement a plan to connect financial empowerment strategies to emergency preparedness and response. To learn more about the opportunity, join us for an informational webinar on 10/1 (click here to register), and access the application here.
